From wine to chocolate: OMAC pumps allow the hygienic and safe transport of any type of liquid – even aggressive or abrasive – food products.

Founded in the early 1960s as an artisanal company for the construction of machinery and plants for the ceramic and food industry of the area (Reggio Emilia province, in the heart of the Food Valley), Omac has developed specializing in the manufacture of pumps. Today it is a well-established company that exports its technology all over the world through products with hygienic design, built with materials certified for food use.

The propensity for research and its dynamism allow Omac to offer a wide range of standard lobe pumps as well as customized according to the characteristics of the product to be treated and the process plant. The extensive catalogue also includes BB-BA pumps derived from the proven B-series, which retain both their performance and reliability.

In the BB-BA series the standard gear box is made of cast iron but can optionally be made of AISI 304 stainless steel.

Hygienic design based on 3A Sanitary Standard

The BB-BA series incorporates the innovations made to the BF-F series and is distinguished by a design that facilitates CIP washing. The BB series pumps have a design based on 3A Sanitary Standard (new standard number 02-11). All wetted parts are in stainless steel 1.4404 and the pump body is from lost wax casting; they have FDA approved elastomers. This range consists of 14 models, with deliveries from 0.03 to 3.3 l/rev.

The differences with respect to the classic Omac B series are: flat cover and in-built fixing nuts that minimise product entrapment & improve CIP washing; flush cover O-ring that follows rotor case profile; flush gasket behind the rotors without metal-to-metal contact; mechanical seals with bigger and self-draining slots for easier cleaning and to prevent the entrapment of potentially dangerous cleaning liquids.

The pumps of the BA series are certified according to 3-A Sanitary Standard with a pump body that allows for complete self-drainage of the pump in vertical position; they have a flat cover that minimises product entrapment and improves CIP, and new 7KFO/E seals.

Special executions for demanding markets

Models 105, 215, 220, 430, 440, 450, 470 and 490 of the BB-BA series can also be supplied in an EHEDG certified version. The tests carried out showed that the construction is entirely free of gaps and all parts in contact with the product are easily washable. This provides considerable reductions in the consumption of hot water and chemicals. BA EHEDG pumps have a vertical port to guarantee complete drainage after CIP washing; inner surface finish to achieve ≤ 0,6 µ Ra and high quality 3A – FDA approved elastomers.

The optional equipment designed for the B series is also available for the BB/BA Series. The standard cast iron gearbox, with double pre-assembled tapered roller bearings and epoxy paint finish, can optionally be supplied with an electroless nickel plating treatment. On pumps up to model BB-BA 390, the gearbox can be made of AISI 304 stainless steel.
